Now listen to what Microsoft has to say about the whole “Google Vs Bing” issue

July 9, 2009

A minute ago i typed the phrase “google is better than bing” on – Microsoft’s answer to Google SE. The results were pretty narcissist as expected. The results advertised Bing to no end. Almost handpicked.

However when I did the same with Google, i mean searched for “Bing is better than Google” the results weren’t that premeditated. So is Google more ethical or honest in their search results?

I tried this myself, then “binged” the following: “google is better than bing” in quotations and only then did I get brought to your site. We conducted the exact same experiment and that is indeed proof that Bing has altered the results. This is why I am not at all interested in using Bing as it seems to skew the results in their favour; I’ll still to Google.

Such things really make me sympathize with the Microsoft-booers

Very interesting experiment. It seems that Google is more ethical and honest than Bing.

I wonder if more people hear about this if that Bing will change their methodology?

I don’t think they will. Microsoft has a history of turning deaf ears to critics. How else will you explain the famous error “Keyboard not detected. Press any key to continue.” throughout all the versions of Windows 98 ?

Whatever….bing is gaining………now it share 12% of total market share !! May be you dont know what Bill Gates said abt Bing Vs Google !! He said, “Google has done a great job….but the future of search engine is Bing”

Bing may be gaining. And no one argues that Microsoft is one of the or the most recognizable company across demographic sections. But the article is not about popularity but how do you achieve it. Would you trust a search engine which willfully tampers with the results?

Microsoft really needs to stop trying to beat their competitors at things 5 to 10 years after it’s too late. In fact, Microsoft really needs to start doing something original for once instead of copying what their competitors are doing. Come on Bill, Windows Live Maps? Bing? And now OfficeTalk? A total ripoff of Twitter?

Bing has yet to proven itself as an alternative, in my opinion. It’s incredibly rare that I can’t find something I’m looking for with Google, so there’s no incentive for me to use anything else.
